The research project focuses on collecting information and knowledge on olive oil tourism and gastronomy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, exploring good practices and cultural routes and analysing articles, texts, websites, blogs, platforms and printed publications to extract key knowledge and best practices in order to promote and strengthen olive oil tourism and the olive sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Herzegovina produced 280,000 liters of olive oil. Officials plan to triple the area of land set aside for olive cultivation in the coming years.

Since 1977, the number of olive trees in Herzegovina has increased dramatically, rising from 6,000 to the current 87,000, covering 350 hectares. In the past 45 years, the number of olive trees has increased by 1,450 percent, a record level for the European Mediterranean.
